Often, the garage door is the last thing a homeowner thinks about, until something goes wrong. Like most equipment, regular maintenance can keep it running for a long time. Below are a few maintenance tips that will keep your garage door working properly.
Listen Up
By paying attention to the sounds your garage door makes when it opens and closes, you can catch any problems before they get out of hand. Do you hear any screeching or scratching sounds? Also take a moment and watch the door as it opens and closes. Is it taking longer to close than usual? These may all point to a maintenance issue that you can catch now. If you see or hear anything out of the ordinary, give us a call for a free garage door inspection.
Inspect the Rollers
After watching how the garage door opens and closes, check the rollers. In order to keep your garage door in the best working condition, the rollers should not look rusted or worn. If they do, it may be time to get them replaced.
Lubricate the Moving Parts
In order to keep the parts of the garage door moving freely, it is a good idea to lubricate them regularly. Particularly in Louisiana where the weather is often hot and humid, garage door parts can become sluggish quickly. Lubricating the moving parts can keep your doors functioning well, longer.
Clear the Tracks
While looking at rollers, make sure the tracks on either side of the door are free of debris. If there are any significant adjustments needed, give us a call so one of our professional technicians can take a look.
